Is A Home Or Condo More Your Style

The decision to buy real estate is a tough one. Whether you are looking at somewhere on 18 Yorkville or in Newark, New Jersey, there are numerous things to consider. Some common questions are; do you want to live in the suburbs or in the city? Do you want to buy cheap and do your own renovations? But a bigger question remains. Do you want to purchase a home or a condominium? There are many differences between a Toronto condo or Newark home that you should consider before making that big leap.

The first big factor is location. More often than not, condominiums are located in a downtown or heavily populated area whereas homes are usually in suburban neighborhoods or in the numbered streets. If you have just started a family and want to be in a quiet neighborhood close to schools, a four bedroom home in Newark or some Acton real estate is probably the better option for you. If you work in a high rise in the center of the city and are out late with work dinner and drinks, a condominium will most likely fit your lifestyle more. City life also offers a closer proximity to restaurants, public transit, banks, and shopping.

The next thing to consider is size. Obviously, a home is more often bigger than a condo. Houses generally have two to five bedrooms and have open kitchens, living rooms and porch areas. Newark or North York condos, to name a few, have the potential to be large and offer a lot of rooms but will be most likely smaller than a home. Houses can also be multiple stories so you can have a basement or even an attic. Unfortunately, storage space is limited in a condominium and most owners use public storage or space that is provided in the building.

Finally, a huge difference between buying a home or a condo is the amenities that a building offers. Some buyers will opt for a condominium because the building is home to a gym, pool, sauna, to name a few. Having access to these amenities can cut down everyday costs like a gym membership and can make life a little easier. Also, a lot of buildings that house condos have underground parking, lockers, and storage space as well as security, video cameras, and concierges. These perks make life that much simpler for many home owners so they choose a condominium over a home in the suburbs.

Whether you are looking into Newark condos or Bloor West Village real estate, be sure to consider the location you want to inhabit, the size that fits your lifestyle, and how important amenities are to you.
